The Structural Engineer’s Association of Southern Nevada is focused on supporting the practice of structural engineering in Southern Nevada through education, collaboration and strengthening the cohesiveness of the structural engineering community.
The association holds monthly membership meetings from September through May each year. During these meetings we allow time for socializing with members of the structural engineering community as well as taking care of any association business. After a meal, topics are presented by local, regional, and national experts on a topic of interest to the engineering community. Topics have included technical presentations on specific materials or systems, overviews of local projects, and academic research.
During the year, the association sponsors one or more half day or full day seminars in lieu of a monthly membership meeting. We have been fortunate to be able to bring in nationally recognized experts on a particular topic.
The agency committee stand ready to assist local building officials with structural interpretations of the building code and to provide input on issues that affect the structural engineering community. This committee also assists when questions of interpretation are raised by practicing engineers either by providing information from past discussions or bringing those issues to the attention of the local building officiials.
